What does “Standards-Based” mean?
The exercises in this book were designed in accordance with state standards, which will help prepare students for state assessment exams. We’ve compiled a list of standards from a sampling of representative states. While the wording of the standards varies, we’ve captured their core intent.
How is Standards-Based Vocabulary organized?
There are 21 lessons of 10 words each. Every lesson includes seven exercises that teach the vocabulary words through context, synonyms and antonyms, homophones and homographs, roots and affixes, mythology, and literary terms.
What is the target audience for the Standards-Based Vocabulary series?
This series was developed for 7th- to 10th-grade students at varying reading levels, from 7th grade students reading at a 4.0–6.0 level, to students in grades 8–10 reading below grade level.
Book I includes vocabulary words from levels 4.0–6.0, while Book II contains vocabulary words from levels 6.0–8.0.
