In celebration of National Poetry Month, we've created and shared five posters based on some of our favorite poems. To conclude this month, our free lesson plan this month is a close look at Emily Dickinson's "Because I could not stop for Death."

In this lesson, your students will examine the literal meaning of the poem and the figurative and metaphorical meaning. They'll then evaluate the free poster to see how well the image captures the mood of the poem. You'll get standards alignments, discussion topics, a reproducible copy of the poem, two graphic organizers, homework ideas, and more.
