Born on January 7, 1891, in a small southern town, Zora Neale Hurston would later become one of the most celebrated writers of the Harlem Renaissance and a renowned anthropologist. Her many literary works, including her novel Their Eyes Were Watching God, remain popular among readers for their profound insight into African American cultural history.
