April might just be the best time of year for poetry lovers. Not only is it National Poetry Month, it also hosts Great Poetry Reading Day on April 28th and the birthday of one of history’s most famous poets, Shakespeare, on April 23rd!
During this springtime season, poetry lovers across the country take time to read and recite their favorite poems, from sonnets and limericks to epigrams and haiku. Many also become poets of their own, writing new works inspired by the world around them.
But poetry appreciation shouldn’t be limited to just one month! Celebrate poetry in your classroom every day of the year with these free posters available at the English Teacher’s Free Library. Ready to print, these high-resolution posters feature famous works by some of history’s greatest poets.
