Free Character Map: The Crucible

First performed in 1953, The Crucible is one of playwright Arthur Miller’s most famous works. An allegory of McCarthyism, this play about the Salem witch trials explores how paranoia and unfounded accusations can quickly create chaos and ultimately have deadly consequences.

The Crucible’s strength lies in its large cast of characters. Throughout the story, people are put to the test as hysteria surrounding the trials grows. As they read the play, your students can easily keep track of the relationships between the major characters with this printable worksheet.
