What does “Pre-AP” mean?

Supposing that students can’t master the skills or level of knowledge required for a top score on an AP exam, the College Board pays attention to the years of instruction prior to taking an AP course. Any instruction in a non-AP course that specifically looks toward success on an AP exam is considered “pre-AP.”

Can this book be used by students not in AP or Pre-AP classes?

Of course! Beyond the AP-prep elements, Prestwick House Pre-AP: Readings and Exercises is an excellent source of challenging literature and top-quality writing assignments for any student who believes college might be in their future.

Who would benefit the most from this book?

Every student who knows they will be taking an AP English course and exam should begin pre-AP instruction as early as possible. However, since the reasoning behind Advanced Placement is that an AP course is a college-level course, all college-bound students would benefit from pre-AP instruction.

Which grade level is this book best suited for?

Prestwick House Pre-AP: Readings and Exercises is geared primarily for students in 9th–11th grade English courses, but could be used as early as 7th grade depending on students’ abilities.
